WHO WE ARE

 

 

 

Declaring His Works, Inc. started in February 2019 with a dedicated and compassionate Board of Directors, Committee Members, and Volunteers who strive to provide financial assistance, education/awareness, and emotional support to women breast cancer survivors/fighters Baltimore region.  We are few in number but mighty in supporting individuals impacted by this devastating and draining disease.

We rely on donations, grants, sponsorships, fundraising, and the Directors' contributions, to support Declaring His Works, Inc. service to breast cancer survivors/fighters. 

Our Mission

 

Declaring His Works, Inc. mission is to assist breast cancer survivors who reside in socially underserved communities. Our goal is to provide financial assistance, educational/psychological support, and services to minimize the stressors associated with a breast cancer journey.

Honoring, Helping, Inspiring Hope, and Healing to Breast Cancer Survivors/Fighters until a cure is found to eradicate this disease from the face of the earth.

A Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Certified (LCSW-C), a Maryland Victim Services Professional, and a two-time breast cancer conqueror. Dee graduated from St. Paul Cathedral High School in Pittsburgh, PA, received her B. S in African American Studies and Social Work from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC), and her Masters from the University of Maryland School of Social Work. 

 

Dee has over 25 years working in the victim services field as a victim advocate, clinician, supervisor, over 5 years working in the nonprofit sector and currently is employed in State government.

Schantell S. Comegys, a U.S. Air Force veteran, is an accomplished attorney, mediator, and entrepreneur with a Juris Doctor from Western Michigan University-Cooley Law School, a Master's Degree in Negotiations and Conflict Management from the University of Baltimore, and Bachelor of Science Degrees in Criminal Justice from Chestnut Hill College and Pre-Law (International Studies) from Philadelphia University. She also holds advanced certifications from institutions like Oxford University, the University of Toronto, and the University of Baltimore. She has extensive public and private sector experience, including roles with the Maryland Office of Attorney General, U.S. Department of Justice, and Family and Children Services of Maryland. Her work reflects a commitment to excellence and a passion for serving others 

Schantell S. Comegys

Managing Attorney

LaTanya Leavy Royal is a retired educator and administrator with 26 years of service in Harford County Public Schools and six years in Baltimore City Public Schools. She holds a Bachelor’s in Special Education from Coppin State University, a Master’s in Early Childhood Education from Towson State University, and a Leadership Certificate in Administration. With over a decade of training from the Maryland State Department of Education, she excelled in fostering community partnerships, organizing workshops, and empowering parents as advocates. Additionally, she has served for over 20 years with the Loch Raven Improvement Association, holding roles such as Vice President and Grant Writer, contributing to numerous community initiatives.

Chetta currently is a Risk Management Consultant who has worked in the banking/credit union industry for over 35 years. She presently works for Allied Solutions, LLC (Wisconsin) and has her own risk management consulting company. Additionally, Chetta has extensive leadership experience serving as Board Treasurer, Secretary or Board Liaison for various organizations. Chetta is a graduate of the University of Baltimore (MD) where she obtained a B. S. degree in Accounting and completed a management program at the University of Richmond (Richmond, VA). She is currently a graduate student at the University of Maryland.

Gina is a retired Federal Government worker with 41 years of service across agencies including the Department of State, Department of Defense, and FEMA, where she was a founding member of the Audit Liaison Office. While at FEMA, she successfully implemented standardized practices to monitor, track, and resolve audit recommendations, leading to improved efficiency and accountability in agency operations. She also served as a Disability Integration Advisor during FEMA disaster deployments and volunteered in roles supporting equal employment and hiring initiatives. A graduate of the University of Baltimore with a B.S. in Corporate Communications, Gina’s career reflects a dedication to public service and excellence in program development and communictions

Our Services

 

 

 

Conquering Cancer Fund

 

Purpose:  To assist breast cancer survivors who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of a breast cancer diagnosis. 

 

There is an application process begins on April 1 through October 31 annually as Funds are available.

 

Funds allocatrd can be used towards an outstanding BGE bill, water bill, telephone bill (landline or cell), and other cancer-related expenses. 

Annual Retreat

 

We host an annual overnight retreat for survivors/fighters for revitalization, relaxation, reinvigoration to promote self-care, to increase knowledge, to inspire hope while on the journey, to create a healing community, and a connection amongst the attendees that will spread to others in the fight.
